Synopsis & quotes
Two teenage boys sneak onto a train bound for Seoul. The film opens from the perspective of one boy as he runs from a train conductor — a gaze that comes to a halt at Jochiwon Station. It is here, in this unplanned destination, that the film unfolds. With no money and nowhere to go, the boys are stranded in an unfamiliar town, relying solely on each other. Jochiwon — meaning “the place where birds arrive” — has long served as a resting point for those passing between the Gyeongbu and Chungbuk train lines. In this light, the director’s decision to place the boys here feels all the more poignant. For these young, immature souls, this “middle ground” is not a refuge, but a place of confusion — like a compass gone astray. Just as the protagonists lose their bearings, there are times in life when we, too, fall into the depths of uncertainty. But may they, like the film itself, find the strength to walk their own path — with quiet determination and resilience. - Daegu Short Film Festival Jury
