Sohn Hyun-lok
CEO & Director
Sohn Hyun-lok is a Seoul-based filmmaker and the founder of What A Wonderfilm, an independent production company dedicated to developing and producing narrative films. He studied Film and Moving Image at Hongik University and earned his MFA in Film Directing from the Korea National University of Arts (K'ARTS). Active in the independent film scene for over a decade, he has directed eight short films that have been invited to numerous short film festivals.
His debut feature, That Summer’s Lie, premiered at the 28th Busan International Film Festival and received the FIPRESCI Award. His second feature project, Birds, was selected for the Asian Project Market at the 29th Busan International Film Festival and awarded the Songwon Award.
In addition to narrative filmmaking, Sohn leads WAW Visual, a creative studio specializing in commercial and branded video content. Through both What A Wonderfilm and WAW Visual, he continues to pursue a balance between artistic storytelling and sustainable production.
