Synopsis & quotes
After dropping out of school, Yeongseo is preparing for the GED while dreaming of an early study-abroad opportunity in dance. But what occupies most of her attention these days is her personal livestream channel on social media. Sitting silently at a cramped desk in a study room, she broadcasts every day — saying little, but always present. Girl at a Window quietly captures how today’s teenagers struggle to survive within the constraints of society. The film expresses this reality through confined spaces: Yeongseo smokes in narrow alleys and studies in a cubicle walled off on all sides. These settings reflect the limits of her world. Her desire to succeed through dance feels increasingly out of reach. In this reality, her only outlet is the livestream. She dances in front of her smartphone, receiving digital gifts from anonymous viewers — a desperate gesture to remain connected to the world in any way she can. - Pyeong-chang International Film Festival Jury
